The 2024 Super High Roller Bowl (SHRB) IX wrapped up on a high note at the Merit Royal Diamond Hotel & Spa in North Cyprus.
American pro Seth Davies nailed the top spot in this coveted event, taking home a whopping pay cheque of $3,206,000. This was Davies’ second title of the season in the PGT series.
This SHRB is Davies' career-best live score which boosted his total live earnings past the $29 Million mark. Previously, Davies had registered a massive win worth $1,078,347 from the 2023 PokerStars Caribbean Adventure $100K Super High Roller. Here, the pro had finished runner-up.
As per The Hendon Mob, the pro currently ranks 32nd on the All Time Money List. The Super High Roller Bowl IX tournament had a field of 24 entries which comprised the who’s who of international poker. The player pool boiled down to the final four players on Day 3.
Spanish pro Juan Pardo started the day with the chip lead, followed by Davies, with Leonard Maue in third and Jeremy Ausmus with the shortest stack.
Ausmus gained significant momentum by scooping the first two hands against Maue, pushing the German player at the bottom of the leaderboard.
Davies called with pocket jacks. The board was no help for Maue and he exited in fourth place for $750,000.
Pardo made a risky play with a nine-deuce suited but soon lost several pots, and lost his chip lead to Davies. Soon, Maue was left with only 11 big blinds and pushed all-in with Ace-Jack which Davies was then sitting with an impressive lead with 2.8 Million chips. Ausmus had a stack of 2.25 Million and Pardo held 2.1 Million in chips.
After a series of hands during the three-handed play, Davies called Pardo's Queen-high bluff with the second pair. This bumped up his stack to 4.26 Million while Pardo and Ausmus together made up for the remaining 2.9 Million.
Ausmus finished in third place for a payday of $1,200,000 when his King-Nine did not survive against Pardo's Ace-Six. Heads-up saw Davies command the lead with 4.26 Million against his rival’s 2.94 Million. The final hand of the heads-up session witnessed Davies raise from the button holding eight-seven.
Pardo defended with four-three only to see Davies hit the nut straight on the turn. Pardo had a straight draw and made a bet. Davies matched, leading to Pardo improving on the river. Pardo bet close to half of his remaining chips, prompting Davies to go all-in.
Pardo matched the bet after utilising multiple time extensions, only to crash into Davies’ better straight. Pardo was runner-up for $1,900,000, which was also his career-best score.
Davies joined the elite ranks of players like Brian Rast, Rainer Kempe, Christoph Vogelsang, Justin Bonomo, Isaac Haxton, Cary Katz, Daniel Dvoress, Timothy Adams, Wiktor Malinowski, Michael Addamo, and Daniel Negreanu.
