Keeping up with player feedback, GGPoker has released a new feature in the form of Time Bank Card System.

Time banks in poker allow players to think a bit longer than usual when it comes to making critical decisions. But sometimes this feature also gets exploited in a way that the game feels like a drag.

GGPoker took a note of all the player feedback and released its Time Bank Card system to ensure the action never slows down on the felts.

The goal with the latest feature is pretty simple. The new Time Bank card allows players more control when they need extra time while avoiding delays.

There’s more to the Time Bank card feature on GGPoker than just getting more time when a player needs it.

Time Bank Cards on GGPoker

If a player needs extra time while grinding on GGPoker then Time Bank cards are the way to go. When players start a poker game on GGPoker, they will receive a fixed number of free Time Bank cards. This number depends on the exact game type and stakes.

These Time Bank cards allow players a one-time extension per betting round. This time bank cards will not extend to the future betting rounds or hands.

When a player runs out of the free time bank cards, he/she will have to then pay more time (at least in cash games).

A Time Bank card will cost players one big blind (1 BB) and gives players an extra 30 seconds to make a decision.

Players can make use of the Time Bank card only once per hand. This feature is not available in formats like All-In or Fold or the Flip stage of Flip & Go tournaments.

There’s more. The one big blind spent on purchasing the time bank goes towards the players on the table. Yes, the one big blind gets redistributed among the other players at the table.

If the amount spent is not divided evenly, then the leftover amount is handed out in order, starting with the player sitting on the dealer’s left side.

According to GGPoker, the new system aims to stop players from exploiting the time bank system while keeping the game fair. The online poker platform has highlighted three crucial benefits as below:
  • Allow players more control in a tough spot
  • Overall fast-action on the felts
  • Reward players who act fast

Players Respond to GGPoker’s Time Bank Card

The new feature applies across all of GGPoker’s cash games, including No-Limit Hold’em, Pot-Limit Omaha, Short Deck, and Rush & Cash.

Tournament players cannot buy extra time, as those games will stick to the traditional time bank system in place.

The player fraternity has shared a mixed response to the Time Bank update. While some players see this feature as a move in the right direction, some other players don’t share the same excitement.

One big concern among players is the one big blind charge put in place for the extra time allotted.
To act quickly in a key spot could add more pressure on a player. This is true especially for players who multi-table.

Grinding on multiple tables at the same time is challenging and now players will have to take a call on whether they have to cut down on tables or just pay for extra time.

GGPoker shared a comment on Reddit regarding the new feature. The comment read, “Time Bank Card was implemented due to continuous player feedback asking for something to be done about players consistently and deliberately slowing the game down.”

GGPoker

GGPoker isn’t the first brand to have a time bank feature in place. ClubWPT Gold also launched a paid time extension recently; the site charges players 20% of a big blind for 10 extra seconds.

WPT Global also has a similar feature. But when it comes to WPT Global or ClubWPT Gold, the extra charge goes to the house which is not the case with GGPoker.
