Daniel Negreanu Roots For Jeremy Ausmus’ Induction In PHOF

Daniel Negreanu is clearly missed at this year’s Super High Roller Bowl (SHRB) IX. The Canadian had nailed the coveted title (SHRB VII) in October 2022 for a stunning $3,312,000. Cut to the recently concluded SHRB IX where Seth Davies shipped the top title for over $3 Million.
The final table also witnessed Jeremy Ausmus fighting it out for the top spot. The American pro finished third for a payday of $1.2 Million. Ausmus may not have won the Super High Roller Bowl title but he surely won a lot of respect and admiration for his splendid run at the table.
Ausmus’ incredible run was witnessed on the biggest stage of poker–World Series of Poker. The 2024 edition of WSOP saw the Colorado-born pro make multiple final tables.
Even though he did not clinch a bracelet he surely made headlines and had the who’s who of poker talking about his hot run.
Now, DNegs tweeted about Ausmus while stating that he did not make the trip to Cyprus for SHRB IX. The seven-time WSOP bracelet winner stated that Ausmus ‘should be’ in the Poker Hall of Fame (PHOF).
WSOP champion surely deserves a spot in the coveted PHOF ranks. Unfortunately the pro missed out on grabbing a spot this year when Finnish player Patrik Antonius was voted into the 2024 PHOF. Ausmus was nominated in 2023 as well, but lost to Brian Rast.
Yes, the six-time WSOP Final Table Record
For those who are not aware, Ausmus tied with 17-time WSOP bracelet winner Phil Hellmuth for the most number of final tables made in a single series.
Poker legend Hellmuth broke the 28-year old record held by An Tran (six final tables in a single series). The poker powerhouse reached seven final tables in the 2021 edition of the World Series.
This was matched by Ausmus in WSOP 2024. While Hellmuth made final tables in games excluding the No-Limit Hold’em variant.
Ausmus on the other hand, has made final table appearances across variants like H.O.R.S.E. and 2-7 Lowball Draw with four No-Limit events and the Poker Player Championship which was eventually shipped by Negreanu.

$250,000 Super High Roller No-Limit Hold'em | 7 | $754,052 |
$100,000 High Roller No-Limit Hold'em | 2 | $1,892,260 |
Can Ausmus break Hellmuth’s record? Sure he can, and he will at the first opportunity. It remains interesting to see what Ausmust will do in the next edition of WSOP which is most likely to be announced in December.
After news broke of Caesars Entertainment selling WSOP to GGPoker for $500 Million, many are expecting changes in the way WSOP was hosted so far. The 2025 WSOP could witness previous Main Event numbers being smashed given that 2023 and 2024 editions saw record-setting entries.
